Midnight Tape
A late-night cassette player for your own music.
What is Midnight Tape?
Midnight Tape plays the mp3, m4a and mp4 files you keep on your iPhone, with a turning cassette, a 10-band equalizer, synced lyrics and a sleep timer. There is no account, no subscription and no streaming — just your files.
Adding music
From a computer (Wi-Fi Share)
Open Wi-Fi Share in the app, set a password and turn sharing on. On a computer connected to the same Wi-Fi, open the address shown in the app (or scan the QR code). Drag songs or whole folders onto the page, build playlists and edit lyrics there.
With the Files app
Open Files → On My iPhone → Midnight Tape and copy your music in. On a Mac you can also drag files onto Midnight Tape in Finder after connecting your iPhone.
Lyrics
Put a .lrc (synced) or .txt file with the same name next to the song, e.g. Song.mp3 + Song.lrc, or paste lyrics on the Wi-Fi Share page. The web editor can also time lyrics for you: press Space as each line starts.
Frequently asked
The web page doesn’t open.
Make sure the iPhone and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi and that Midnight Tape is open with sharing on. iOS pauses sharing when the app is in the background; it turns back on when you return.
A song is greyed out.
The file couldn’t be read. Try re-exporting it as mp3 or m4a.
How do I change the language?
Settings → Language: follow your iPhone, or choose English, 한국어 or 日本語.
